1928.- Comienza “La masacre de las bananeras” cuando el Ejército de Colombia asesina a más de mil trabajadores de la multinacional United Fruit Company, quienes exigían mejoras laborales en la localidad de Ciénaga, departamento del Magdalena.
1933.- Abolición de la “Ley Seca” en EE.UU., que estuvo en vigor durante 13 años.
