ESTADOS UNIDOS.- Te contamos las efemérides del 2 de mayolos hechos más importantes que ocurrieron en una fecha como hoy entre 1519 y 2018.

1500

1598.- El Rey de España (Felipe II) y el Rey de Francia (Enrique IV) firman la Paz de Vervins, uno de los tratados que sirvió para poner fin a las Guerras de Religión francesas.

1800

1808.- El pueblo de Madrid se subleva contra el Ejército Francés, origen de la Guerra de la Independencia.

1866.- La escuadra española, comandada por el almirante Méndez Núñez, bombardea El Callao, última acción de la guerra de España contra Chile y Perú.

1869.- En París abre sus puertas el cabaret Folies Bergère.

1890.- Se firma el tratado García Herrera que aprueba los límites fronterizos entre Ecuador y Perú, y por el cual Ecuador pierde gran parte de sus derechos en la Amazonía.

1933.- Se suprimen los sindicatos libres en Alemania.

1952.- First commercial flight of a jet, the Havilland Comet, which covered the London-Johannesburg route.

1953.- King Faisal II swears the Constitution before the Parliament of Iraq.

1965.- The US president, Lyndon Johnson, announces the permanence of 14,000 soldiers in Santo Domingo to prevent it from becoming a communist state.

1968.- The student revolt of the “French May” begins in Paris.

1977.- The adverse ruling for Argentina is announced, in the conflict with Chile over the Beagle Channel.

1982.- Falklands War: the Argentine cruiser “General Belgrano” is sunk by a British warship.

1983.- Microsoft launches the word processor Word 1.0, and its first mouse.

1992.- The European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) agree on the creation of the European Economic Area (EEA).

2005.- The Chilean José Miguel Insulza is elected Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS).

2008.- Cyclone “Nargis” causes 134 thousand deaths and 2.4 million homeless in Burma (Myanmar).

2010.- Financial crisis: the EU agrees to grant Greece a loan of 110 billion euros for the period 2010-2012.

2011.- A Honduran appeals court annuls the processes for alleged corruption against the ousted former president Manuel Zelaya.

2012.- “The Scream” by Edward Munch achieves an auction record by selling for 119.9 million dollars in New York.

2016.- The ship “Adonia” arrives in Havana, the first US cruise ship in more than 50 years.

2017.- Mexico captures Dámaso López, successor to El Chapo.

2017.- The Italian government appoints three administrators and grants a loan of 600 million euros to save the airline Alitalia from bankruptcy.

2018.- ETA announces its dissolution in a letter dated April 16.

2018.- The latest theory of the late British physicist Stephen Hawking is published, in which he proposes that other universes very similar to ours may exist.
