1743.- Firma en Fontainebleau del segundo Pacto de Familia, que establecía una alianza ofensiva y defensiva entre las coronas de España (Felipe V) y Francia (Luis XV).

1836.- El obelisco de Tebas, donado a Francia por el virrey de Egipto Mehemed Ali, se instala en la plaza de la Concordia de París.
1837.- Ejecutados públicamente en Buenos Aires el ex gobernador de Córdoba José Vicente Teinafé, su hermano Guillermo y el capitán Santos Pérez, acusados del asesinato del general Juan Facundo Quiroga.
1863.- El presidente guatemalteco, Rafael Carrera, conquista y saquea la ciudad de San Salvador, tras un asedio de 25 días.
1868.- Guerra de Cuba: los insurgentes cubanos son rechazados por las tropas españolas en la batalla de Baire.
1878.- Frustrado atentado contra Alfonso XII, en la calle Mayor de Madrid.

1927.- El transatlántico italiano “Principessa Mafalda” se hunde frente a las costas brasileñas y mueren 314 personas.
1949.- El cuatrimotor “Havilland Comet”, el primer avión a reacción para transporte de pasajeros, realiza un vuelo de prueba Londres-Trípoli-Londres en 6 horas y 36 minutos, el doble de rápido que un avión convencional.
1956.- El español Juan Ramón Jiménez gana el Premio Nobel de Literatura.

2013.- Former Argentine general Luciano Benjamín Menéndez, convicted of crimes against humanity during the last dictatorship (1976-1983).
2016.- The Parliament of Venezuela approves starting a political process against President Nicolás Maduro.
2017.- The Supreme Court of Venezuela in exile orders the dissolution of the National Constituent Assembly.
2018.- Sahlework Zewde, appointed first female president in the history of Ethiopia.
2020.- Chileans decide in a historic plebiscite and by a large majority to replace the Constitution drafted during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
2021.- Clara Dupont-Monod wins the Femina Prize, one of the most renowned in French literature, for her novel “S’adapter”.
2022.- A study, published in Nature Communications, traces the origin of vocal communication back to 400 million years and shows that animals such as turtles, which were believed to be mute, show broad and complex acoustic repertoires.
