1901: En Estocolmo y Oslo tiene lugar la primera entrega oficial de los premios Nobel.
[1945: Juan Domingo Perón and Evita get married in the Church of San Francisco de Asís in La Plata.
[1945: Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral receives the Nobel Prize for Literature.
1948: The UN approves the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Paris.
1967: The United States detonates its 531st atomic bomb: 29 kiloton Gasbuggy in a well 1,290 meters underground, about 33 km southwest of the town of Dulce, New Mexico, at 12:30 p.m. (local time). It was detonated to investigate whether it was possible to extract gas from the subsoil. However, all the extracted gas was left too radioactive.
1971: Chilean poet Pablo Neruda receives the Nobel Prize for Literature.
1977: The Videla dictatorship kidnaps 53-year-old Azucena Villaflor, one of the founders of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, in Buenos Aires (Argentina). That afternoon, Villaflor had published in the newspapers the list of several disappeared young people. On December 20, after ten days of torture, she will be dropped alive from a plane into the Río de la Plata (Flights of Death).
1990: Octavio Paz receives the Nobel Prize for Literature.

2003: The American company IBM ends negotiations with the Chinese group Lenovo, selling its division of personal computers to it. Together with the PC division, Lenovo gets about 10,000 IBM employees and the right to use the IBM and Thinkpad brands for five years.
2007: Cristina Fernández assumes the presidency of Argentina. She is the first woman president elected, in this nation, by popular vote.
